Mat Salleh Rebellion and His Leadership

Datu Muahmmad Salleh also known a Mat salleh, he is local Chief from from the lingkabo district Sugugt River. The Mat Salleh Rebellion was a series of major armed disturbances against the colonial British North Borneo Chartered Company administration in North Borneo, now the Malaysian state of Sabah. The uprising, led by Mat Salleh and his supporter between 1894 until his death in Tambunan in 1900.


 The Leadership of Mat Salleh

 1.His wide support not only came from his family affiliations and connections. He was also able to garner supporters from Kadazan-Dusun communities.

 2. He was skilled at connecting with and uniting other communities, making him a great personage among the multi-ethnic indigenous people.

 3. He also is good in conduct tactical formation against the British Colonial.

 4. He spirit to his supporter never lost, this is the example of the good leader.

 After several of war between Mat Salleh and British. He was died in 1900. Memorial park hass been build to remember his fighting against British.

The golden age of Malacca ended in 1511. Empire Malacca who called to an end after the Portuguese attack Malacca under the rule of Sultan Mansur Shah. Internal Factors WEAK LEADERSHIP & OPPRESSIVE ADMINISTRATION Weak ruling government is the root cause to the fall of the Malacca Sultanate.
